Update #7 (6 weeks to the NJM / LBH Weekend)

Our Many and Varied Charities:

The New Jersey Shore Marathon, Inc. is a 501 c3 non-Profit Organization and recognized by the state of New Jersey as a charitable organization. To that end NJSM, Inc. has partnered with many children's charities and community based "grass-roots" charities. A complete list of charities is posted on our www.njmarathon.org site.

We estimate that more than $2 million will be raised for many of these charities by using the NJM Weekend of events as vehicles for pledges. The largest by far is Team In Training for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. They have nearly 400 participants that will raise well over $1 million.

For the first time this year we also have our very own Mrs. New Jersey, Claire Pavlinec running her first half marathon and raising money and awareness to her favorite charity, Maternal Wings (www.maternalwings.com). “By running in the Long Branch Half Marathon, I hope to raise several thousand dollars that will be used in support of Maternal Wing’s ongoing initiatives,”

We will also for the first time asking our participants to help with a Food Drive for the Needy. The St. Vincent de Paul Society and PODS (Our Official Storage Sponsor) have teamed-up to accept any non-perishables food items and toiletries (or cash donations) that will be collected very near the Registration Tent during official Expo hours on Friday , 3-7 PM and Saturday, 9 AM - 8 PM. Any and all donations will be gladly accepted!

Lastly, if you would like to be a part of our very own Optional Sponsorship Program to our children's charities, please go to www.njmarathon.org/donationform. Every penny of the donations raised will go to our children's charities and the Rewards to you go far beyond the free Tees, Gift Certificates and free entries!

Upcoming Updates:

-  How to make bib #, timing chip and event Tee pick-up at the 2-day Expo easy for you and the volunteers!

-  A Parking Plan for Marathon morning or how to get 5,000 cars into the city and parked for that 7:30 Start.

-  Where to have your Pasta dinner the night before and local restaurants offering a 10% discount.

·     Don't forget to Confirm your registration online at www.njmarathon.org. All corrections may be made now before the NJM Weekend.

·     If you live near the NJM course (The map is now posted on our site.) you may want to join the NJRRC as it stages a 20 mile training run (10 Miler for LBH participants) on the course Sunday, April 13 (see www.njrrc.org for more details). Free to all and followed by a discounted breakfast at nearby restaurants!

Running regards,
