Meet Larry The Lighthouse!!

I know it is hard to believe..... but yes the New
Jersey Marathon even has an official mascot! Larry the
Lighthouse was so inspired by the sight of all the runners at the Jersey
Shore.... that just this year he took up running. We were really
shocked the first time he joined us for a training run. "How does
he do that?" we asked ourselves. He told us he was in-training for the
New Jersey Marathon. And every Sunday he joined us for a training run
in Long Branch. And to the amazement of many (including us)... Larry
the Lighthouse completed the NJ Marathon on April 30, 2006.
Larry loves company on his runs..... and would encourage
anyone who would like to train for a race to join him! He is not very
fast mind you.... but he always has a great time!

On October 29th 2006, the New Jersey Marathon
awarded Larry a plaque as the Official Mascot of the New Jersey. I
don't think we've ever seen a lighthouse so proud.
